Grand Slam T20 Match Rules

Comprehensive rules and regulations for the Grand Slam T20 tournament.

Welcome to the Grand Slam T20 tournament! This document outlines the rules and regulations for the competition, ensuring a fair and exciting experience for all participants.

Round Robin Stage

  • Format: Five teams will compete in a double-round, round-robin league stage.
  • Objective: Each team plays every other team. The team with the most points at the end of the league phase is crowned Champion if their points difference is over 4 points.
  • Tie-Breakers:
    • Net Run Rate (NRR)
    • Number of Wins
    • Head-to-Head Results
    • Super Over (if all else is equal)

Knockout Stage

  • If the points difference between the top two teams is 4 points or less, a final match determines the Champion.

Player Participation

  • DNB Players: Must be given a chance to bat every match.
  • Bowling Players: Must be given a chance to bowl at least one over.
  • Batting: A minimum of 6 balls must be faced before a batsman can be retired out.
  • Innings: These rules apply only if 20 overs are completed.

Captain's Responsibilities

  • Ensure all team members are present during game time.
  • Players must arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled match.
  • No substitutes for unavailable players.

Playing Conditions

  • Overs: Matches consist of 20 overs per side.
  • Team Composition: Matches are played with 11 players per team.
  • Impact Players:
    • 1 for 12-player squads
    • 2 for 13-player squads
  • Wickets: Maximum of 10 wickets per batting team. The last man is not allowed.
  • Ball: A new ball will be used in both innings.
  • Ties: Decided by a super over.

Points System

  • Winning Team: Awarded 2 points.

Batting Rules

  • Boundaries:
    • 2 runs for over-the-net hits behind square.
    • No boundary if the ball hits behind the orange ribbon; only running counts.
  • No Byes or Leg Byes.

Bowling Rules

  • Overs: Maximum of 4 overs per bowler.
  • Bouncers: Maximum of 1 per over.
  • Disqualification: Two threatening beamers in an over lead to disqualification (umpire's decision).

Powerplay

  • First 6 overs.
  • Maximum of 2 fielders outside the inner circle.

Fielding Rules

  • Maximum of 5 fielders outside the inner circle.
  • No limits on offside fielders.
  • Maximum of 5 fielders on the leg side.
  • Overthrows: Boundaries awarded.
  • Wicket-Keeper: Gloves allowed.
  • Edge Rule: Specific rules for run-outs if the ball touches the black wall behind the keeper.

Super Over

  • The team that was chasing bats first.
  • Maximum of 2 wickets.
  • Tied super overs are replayed until a result is achieved.
  • Bowler and batsman restrictions in subsequent super overs.

Chucking

  • Batters can report suspected chucking to umpires.
  • Umpires review and may issue warnings or call no-balls.

No Ball Conditions

  • Overstepping, waist-high full toss, second bouncer, and other violations.
  • Free hit awarded for all no-ball cases.

On-Field Umpires

  • Decisions are final.
  • Umpires are external.

Penalties

  • 5 Runs: For unwanted arguments with umpires or if the ball hits an unauthorized object on the field.

Other Rules

  • Mankading: Allowed.
  • Wickets: Considered out if the ball hits the base of the stumps without bails.
  • Substitutes: Only for serious injuries and upon umpire recommendation.
